It's Almost Been A Year Already...?

Posted on March 10, 2006 at 10:40 AM

Things have been slowing down a bit, but Panther Creek High is full of new opportunities. I've been spreading interest little by little, and, hopefully, I'll soon get a literary agent that can help me push my prequel out somewhat more forcefully! See you then...

Just finished reading "Until We Meet Again" by Miss Mckerlie. <br> <br>I find it unfathomable for such a young person to place into words such an interesting work. The book definately keeps one spell bound and interested. <br> <br>Look forward to obtaining the prequel!

Thanks! The prequel's coming along very quickly, now that you mention it. I've already gotten through about 60 pages, and, to me, it's better than <i>Until We Meet Again</i>! Keep your eyes open! <img alt="lol" src="http://images.freewebs.com/Images/Smilies/Round/laugh.gif"&g

This is a fantastic first book. I am excited to read the prequel, and hope Ms. McKerlie keeps 'em coming. She has a great future as an author.

Andrea, I am so remiss about congratulating you about your book and I apologize 1,000 times over. Mike, your cousins and I are so very proud of you and your achievement. It is quite a feat indeed! Not sure if you were aware but way back when in the McKerlie family there was another writer, Henry McKerlie. He was my (and your dad's) great grandfather. He penned a rather controversial tome for his time - titled 'Why Believe'. He was a preacher and the book caused quite a stir from what I understand. Altho, I can't say that I agree with much of what he wrote, the fact remained that he had the talent to capture it on paper. That gene apparently skipped a few generations and now we we see where it landed!! Way to go!! I have to admit I have not read your book yet but I can tell from the preview that I am sure that I will enjoy it and do so look forward to it. <br> <br>Congratulations again, Andrea! We are so very proud on this end...... <br> <br>Uncle Brian

Thanks, all! I'm glad that news has apread at least this far, and I hope that everyone's enjoyed it so far. The prequel (sitting despondently in an unopened MSWord document as we speak) is going to be much darker, and hopefully better. I DID hear about my great-great grandfather's book, and I'm sorry that no one else in the family until ME enjoyed this hobby I am starting to discover now. Anyways...<img alt="tongue" src="http://images.freewebs.com/Images/Smilies/Round/tongue.gif"&

This is great, having the site in full swing now. I've started including this site in the front cover of all the recent copies being sold. <br>A few school libraries, Mom, and I all have a meeting to go to at Barnes and Noble on Thursday, about setting up a book fair for the schools, and letting me be the "main event" there, signing/selling/making new friends<img alt="wink" src="http://images.freewebs.com/Images/Smilies/Round/wink.gif">
;. <br>A few days ago I had a story in the Cary News by Mrs. Valerie Marino. I think that you can also find it online.

SAVE THE DATE!!! Salem MS and most likely Apex HS will be having a book fair at Barnes and Noble in Cary, and a book signing for Until We Meet Again is going to be the main event. Everyone is welcome, and are encouraged to shop around, as about 20% will profit the schools. This will happen on May 15, from 9:00AM-11:00PM, with the book signing at 7:00PM!

Yeah, I can understand how it's so great to read; you can just let someone tell you the story, sit back, and relax. I've had a lot of people tell me that they aren't very good writers, and I think it's just because it's so hard to try NOT to copy one of the many things you've read, and create your own original things. When someone asks me what books I've gotten inspiration from, I can't narrow it down to one-not even close! It comes from everything I've read!

May 30 I went to my dad's school to talk to some of the seventh grade language arts classes about writing. Mrs. Harris had planned for Mrs Atwater, my 4th grade teacher that I dedicated the book to, to come in and be presented with her own copy (because she doesn't know that I'm published yet), but it didn't quite work out. It was all really fun, though, and I recommend this approach to all of those people who are trying to gain publicity for whatever reason!<img alt="wink" src="http://images.freewebs.com/Images/Smilies/Round/wink.gif">
